Are you troubled by insomnia?
I was. It was one of my worst anxiety symptoms. It’s a debilitating problem that can slowly start to make life unbearable.
One of the reasons insomnia persists is because we develop a fear of it. This fear of the symptom causes us to get stuck in the anxiety cycle - meaning our mind and body are continually flooded with the stress hormones cortisol and Adrenalin (even when in bed).
Removing the fear from our insomnia is the first step to recovery. This allows us to slowly start retraining our brain so that when we lay down to sleep - it no longer thinks it has to protect us from danger by initiating our fight or flight response.
